Abstract
It is estimated that there are approximately 800,000 patients with pulmonary
tuberculosis and less than 4,000 sanatorium beds in Korea Therefore, Majority of
patients remain at home and get chemotherapy on an aumbulatory base. The
conventional chemotherapy, INH(300§·)-PAS(10§·) in three divided doses, is not
convenient for ambulatory cases particularly, those who have job. They do not like to
take drugs in public and usually omit the second dose of drugs. Recently, some
observations indicated that the better therapeutic results were associated with the higher
peak serum concentrations rather than low sustained levels were maintained. It is also
indicated that 6-10§·. of daily PAS would be sufficient when combined with INH. The
purpose of this study is to compare the clinical efficacies between the cases treated with
INH(300§·)-PAS(10§·) in three divided doses and cases treated with INH (400§·)-PAS(8
§·) in two divided doses.
